[Familiar 1] "Iza Yuke Wakataka Gundan" tends to be played during sales

Congratulations to the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks for winning the Pacific League championship for the first time in four years!

Maybe from today you'll feel this Familiar even more strongly?

"Let's Go, Young Hawks!" is the official team song of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, who are based in Fukuoka.

When the Hawks win the championship, huge sales are held in shopping districts and supermarkets around Fukuoka, and the song "Go Young Hawks" can be heard echoing through the sales floors.

This song was written in 1989 when the Hawks, who were based in Osaka, moved to Fukuoka and it was decided that they should have a cheer song similar to Rokko Oroshi (the Hanshin Tigers' team song).

The lyrics were submitted through a public contest, with the words of Mr. Taney Harada from Saga Prefecture being selected.

At the time, the team was the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks, so the name "Daiei Hawks" appears in the lyrics, but after the parent company changed to SoftBank, the lyrics were changed to sing "SoftBank Hawks."

I've been listening to this song since the Daiei Hawks days, and when the lyrics were changed to "SoftBank Hawks" I felt a bit strange, but now it's become so familiar that it sounds natural to me, which I think is Familiar that people from Fukuoka can relate to.

[Familiar 2] Girls start going to Tenjin Core when they reach junior high school age.

Tenjin Core was a fashion building located in Tenjin , Fukuoka City .

It opened in 1976 and closed in March 2020.

It is like 109 in Shibuya, and has become a mecca for gal fashion in Fukuoka.

For girls, shopping at Tenjin Core becomes a bit of a status symbol when they reach junior high school age.

It is a place that is aspired to not only by girls in Fukuoka Prefecture but also by girls from neighboring prefectures, and many girls from Saga Prefecture, where I was born, attend.

Once the demolition is complete, the building is scheduled to be transformed into a large complex combining commercial facilities, offices, and a hotel in 2024.

[Familiar 3] Kashiwa rice balls dominate the deli section

Kashiwa onigiri is a local dish from Kyushu, and simply put, it is rice balls cooked with chicken.

It is an especially popular item in supermarkets in northern Kyushu, with many packs of three to five kashiwa rice balls being sold in the deli section.

Kashiwa rice balls are a standard at udon restaurants, and if you order "kashiwa" (chicken), you will naturally get a kashiwa rice ball.

By the way, Kashiwa onigiri is rice cooked with chicken, but "Kashiwameshi" can be either chicken cooked rice or plain rice topped with minced chicken and shredded egg.

[Familiar 4] People who carry Iwataya paper bags have a celebrity vibe

Iwataya is a long-established department store in Fukuoka City.

When walking around Tenjin or Hakata, you often see celebrity-looking people carrying Iwataya paper bags.

Iwataya's paper bags have a modern design, so you might think they were invented recently, but they actually have a long history, having been made in 1959.

The design was created by Western-style painter Kenzo Okada, and uses motifs such as the local climate, architecture, Japanese clothing, and everyday items to convey a "new era sensibility" and a "solid store."

I think it's a Familiar Fukuoka that people keep Iwataya bags carefully and use them when handing something over to someone.
