Seiryu Park near Nakasu renovated, featuring waterside light shows and landmark facilities [ Hakata Ward , Fukuoka City ]

The Park PFI is a system that utilizes private know-how to improve the convenience of park users and increase the appeal of parks. On August 14, Fukuoka City announced the preferred negotiating party for the Park PFI for three parks in Hakata Ward, Meiji Park, Seiryu Park, and Higashihirao Park (Otani Square). This time, we will introduce the proposal for the renewal of Seiryu Park.

A wing-shaped building integrated with the plaza will be constructed on the south side of the park.

"The concentration of relaxing and lively places and the iconic park facilities will encourage people to wander around the city center," "The symbolic design of the building will create a new landmark for Fukuoka," "A fantastical entertainment show woven with light" ━━━.
Seiryu Park, located along the Naka River, is a long, narrow park that stretches from Showa-dori Avenue to Canal City Hakata from north to south .
Seiryu Park is made up of the "south area" close to the Canal Canal City Hakata, the "bridge area" which has been temporarily developed as a lively space on the detour bridge, and the "north area" facing the Naka River from Haruyoshi Bridge to Showa-dori Avenue.
The preferred negotiating party for the Seiryu Park Development, Management and Operation Project, which involves arranging buildings around a plaza, integrating architecture and the plaza, providing an unprecedented park experience, was a group led by Fukuoka Jisho Co., Ltd.

The renovation project for Seiryu Park, which faces the Naka River, will take advantage of the park's waterfront location, based on Fukuoka City's "Riverfront NEXT" initiative .
The plan calls for a lighting scheme that makes use of the architecture to create a new nighttime symbol for the riverfront area, as well as a spectacular water and light show .

In the future, a large, iconic wing-shaped building stretching from north to south will be constructed in the southern area of Seiryu Park .
The rooftop of the building will have a stepped terrace that can be used as a place to relax during normal times and as spectator seating for events such as Nakasu Jazz.
Meanwhile, the bridge area will be used as a gateway to welcome park users and as a plaza to host a variety of events .
Additionally, in the northern area, plans are underway to add evergreen trees to where the cherry trees are currently planted, and to place various features so that visitors can enjoy a variety of scenery.

2024Construction is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2021, with the new Seiryu Park scheduled to open in spring 2025.

Seiryu Park is a block park that opened in 1952 as part of a land readjustment project for reconstruction .
There are a number of food stalls lined up along the river in the southern area of the park, and the neon lights of Nakasu and the view along the river create a fantastical atmosphere.
The group headed by Fukuoka Jisho Co., Ltd., which is in charge of the renovation of Seiryu Park, includes Sun Life Co., Ltd., FJ Entertainment Works Co., Ltd., Azusa Sekkei Kyushu Branch, Fukken Engineering Fukuoka Branch, Studio Genkumagai Co., Ltd., Chikushi Construction Co., Ltd., Ando Landscape Engineering Co., Ltd., and Nissin Sangyo Co., Ltd.

Going forward, in order to renovate Seiryu Park, a basic business agreement will be concluded in September 2023 , just like the other two parks, and design and discussions will begin.
Construction is scheduled to begin in fiscal 2024, with the facilities gradually opening to traffic from spring 2025 .
